About Us
Portable Gardens is based in Rochester, NY (the "Flower City" ) serving the Empire State and bordering states. The mobile garden is one piece of our vision of bringing the joy of gardening indoors, especially for adults living in assisted and nursing care facilities.
The acclaim for our product is largely due to Wes Kleppe, member of the American Horticultural Therapy Association, and a man with a knack for bringing gardens and sunshine indoors. Over the past years he has facilitated Portable Garden placement in locations around the United States. In New York, Maryland, Florida and elsewhere our quality indoor gardens are bringing year-round enjoyment to users.
A lifetime member of Men's Garden Clubs of America, Wes is well known at these sites after delivery, as he often holds gardening workshops with residents, coming prepared with a variety of plant material. He has eased the process of establishing indoor garden programs by
- constructing our gardens from the best materials,
- personally delivering and installing at buyer's locations,
- wrapping up with an on-site workshop about garden use.
At Maryland's Erickson Retirement Communities
From his experience with garden use, and recognizing possible improvements, Wes has created a durable, attractive design and continues to supervise the preparation and installation of each order.
The gardens have been a success for the users, as facilties explore their therapeutic and decorative applications.
The gardeners' activities give them a sense of purpose; with beautiful, growing feedback for their efforts.
